A business reference of mine who is a current employee contacted me letting me know there was an open position. She said I could use her as an employee referral and that I should apply ASAP. I did and was e-mailed an online assessment the next day .
Within 24 hours after completing the assessment, the Program Director called me to set up an interview. She e-mailed me a copy of the application with the instructions to print it off, complete it and bring the hard copy along into the interview.
My interview lasted about 30 minutes. It was with the Program Director and Assistant Program Director of that specific location. They were both friendly, nice and gave me the impression that they truly cared about the children who attend their academy.
While I have experience as babysitter, nanny and Sunday school teacher aide, this is my first time working in an actual childcare facility. Because of this, my interviewers wanted me to come back the next day for a "working interview." I assisted with the classroom and played with the children for an hour.
At the end of my time with the kids, the Program Director asked me how it went and if I had any questions. I shared my thoughts, including how I enjoyed working with the 3-year-old age group. She informed me the last step was for the background check to return. I was offered the job three days later.
