I recently went through the interview process with LSEG Nottingham company the overall experience was somewhat inconsistent and could benefit from better structure and communication.
Initially, I was informed that the hiring process would consist of four interview rounds. After successfully completing these, the hiring manager mentioned that HR would reach out regarding next steps. Based on this, I expected a transition into the offer or final discussion stage giving me confidence and hope.
However, an additional technical interview was scheduled unexpectedly and with very short notice. I proactively asked for clarification regarding the format and expectations of this round, but was told that there was no clear information available at the time. It was only one day before the interview that I was informed it would be a technical round.
Unfortunately, I was on vacation during this period, which significantly limited my ability to prepare adequately. Despite this, I attended the interview and did my best under the circumstances. I strongly believe that with clearer communication and sufficient preparation time, I could have demonstrated my skills more effectively.
Additionally, the extra round included questions that required explaining very specific parts of the company’s existing codebase, even down to particular lines. While I managed to navigate through the discussion, this approach felt overly rigid and somewhat unrealistic, especially without prior context or preparation material.
Overall the process lacked transparency and proper planning. Improving communication around interview structure, expectations, and timelines would greatly enhance the candidate experience.
