      Software Engineer Interview

      27 Dec 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Klaviyo (Boston, MA) in Nov 2023

      Interview

There are multiple rounds including a phone screen with recruiter, zoom call with one member of hiring team (which was one of the lead software engineers), then a take-home technical problem using Code Signal (around 90 mins), then two live coding interviews - one with a hiring manager and one with a director. I only made it through the first two rounds. The tech screen was okay. My recruiter was five mins late and it felt rushed and impersonal, however they moved me to the next round immediately. For the second round I was told to come with tech examples from prior projects I've worked on. My interviewer asked me to describe a difficult project I've worked on and then we used that one example for the rest of the questions. Looking back I wish I brought up more than one example because I felt like that one project didn't highlight all of my experience. Don't be afraid to bring up other experiences/examples you have. I was pretty disappointed with how my recruiter handled giving the rejection. They included the wrong name of the hiring manager so I had to message back to confirm the denial was intended for me. They apologized for putting the wrong name, but confirmed that rejection did reflect my candidacy status. I asked for some feedback and I've since been ghosted, so I have no clue why I was rejected or what I need to improve. Not helpful.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Describe a difficult project you've worked on and what the outcome was? Describe the tech stack. Describe a project you've worked and the challenges you had to overcome.

      Interview

ICF Codesignal, recruiter screen, and then final interview. Codesignal was easy as long as you prepped for it, there are many examples of ICFs online. Recruiter screen was normal. Final interview was not DSA related. Mostly related to the real experience of being a swe.

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Klaviyo (London, England) in Mar 2026

      Interview

The interview process was generally well structured. I had an initial 30-minute recruiter call, followed by an assessment task and a hiring manager interview. The final stage consisted of three separate one-hour interviews covering different skill areas, with two interviewers in each session. One focused on frontend skills, while the others leaned more toward backend and broader technical competencies. Overall, the experience was positive, though having a three-hour final stage in a single day felt quite intensive.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Do a code review and fix what might be wrong or how you would fix it.
