I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Kinaxis (Ottawa, ON) in May 2021
Interview
They described the position, they also described the company, they assessed my skills, and then there was the usual Human Resources interview. I don't know, pretty standard interview process which isn't bad I suppose.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kinaxis (Ottawa, ON) in Nov 2025
Interview
I applied for a Software Engineer position and clearly stated multiple times (in writing and verbally) that I am not a React expert and that my strength lies in other areas.Despite this, the recruiting team pushed forward and scheduled a technical interview. It was an hour and half interview scheduled but the Interviewer stopped at 35 minutes and it was exclusively of deep React questions, nothing else. Not a single question about my actual experience, skills, or the tech stack I’ve worked with for years. The interviewers’ facial expressions and tone made it obvious they had already written me off. The meeting ended abruptly without any meaningful wrap-up or basic courtesy. This wasn’t a difficult interview, it was a complete mismatch that could have been avoided with 30 seconds of reading my profile or listening to what I said upfront. Preparing for several days and blocking my calendar just to be treated with visible disdain felt disrespectful and unprofessional.
Pros: None from the interview process.
Cons: Poor communication, wasted candidates’ time, dismissive and rude behavior from the interview panel.
Advice to management: If a candidate explicitly tells you their weakness in a certain technology, either screen on relevant skills or don’t waste everyone’s time. Basic respect costs nothing.
