      Sales Engineer Interview

      27 May 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Singapore
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at Keyence (Singapore) in Mar 2023

      Interview

Just a fresh grad giving my 2cents, want to keep things transparent and honest. Keyence can make use of LinkedIn to have a larger pool of candidates. The whole procedure is broken down into 3 segments: 1. Career day [think you have to email them about it, don't think it was an open invitational event, hence it is q low profile]- it started off with a senior manager introducing the company (what they do, etc) followed by introduction + bonding games among participants to warm them up, ended off with debate between 2 teams with 2 different topics. After that, lunch was provided by keyence, where you get to talk to a few managers and other participants. This was the morning section, not sure if you are being graded for the debate. After lunch, there is a 5 questions math test to complete, it was quite easy, if you're an engineering student, shouldn't have any issue. After the math test, participants were divided into groups of 2. 1 group will be introduced on the products that keyence is selling by the sales and technical engineers, another group will be interviewing with a sales manager. All the sales and technical engineers are very friendly, you can ask them any queries if you have, they are more than willing to share. As for the Interview with sales manager, it is quite chill with questions like: Introduce yourself, walking through your resume, asking why sales, why sales, which traits that you have that you think you have that is impt in sales. 2. Receive an email a few days later to do a personality test and pattern test, need roughly an hour to finish. 3. Receive notification about second interview, roughly about a week later. The second interview was with the managing director, he's very nice and a warm person. The whole interview procedure was like a conversation rather than an interview. It was more or less like him trying to know more about your background and him explaining the company's background, etc. Will ask you what's your favourite part about career day or the company, from then he will further elaborate the part that interests you the most. Ended off with a mini role playing session at the end. (based off your interest- i.e you like to gym, so he can role play as a member who wants to gym and you need to sell him a gym membership- smth like that). The whole process felt like a conversation rather than an interview. Really feel very comfortable the whole time, which is very rare. I've been to interviews where the interviewers were quite intimidating.

      Interview

My interview process consisted of two rounds. Was flown out to Chicago to role play one of their products. Thirty minutes of behavioral was pretty typical. The thirty minutes of technical role play was on the more difficult side - thought it went well but wasn't given an offer.

      Hanoi
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Keyence (Hanoi) in Apr 2026

      Interview

1st round. 5 minutes. Interviewed by one manager, face-to-face. Most questions are quite typical, such as your experience, your reasoning for the application, your general understanding of the role, and your strengths and weaknesses. There's one question, though, where you have to think on your feet, which can be tricky.
