The interview process was pretty interesting. They wanted an experienced Workers’ Compensation attorney but wanted to provide extremely low salary. Their firm has a billable requirement of minimum 200 hours per month and they wanted to offer a salary of $65,000. If that is not slavery then I don’t know what is! That literally means you are working 6 days a week, over 50 hours a week to meet the minimum required billable hours. YET, they have the audacity to offer subpar salaries. After the r interview, I requested a salary of $100,000 per year (typical law firms like Kelley Kronenberg offer starting salaries of $130-160,000 for the amount of billable hours they are requesting. In addition, their billable hours are HIGHER than the top law firms. I decided that I refused to work for a firm that treats their employees like a sweatshop. I rescinded my application for employment. I am writing this because I think it is time that attorneys request fair pay and don’t let them use you into servitude.
