I applied on LinkedIn and was messaged that my skills were impressive and they would like to schedule an interview. I first did an interview with a recruiter in New York. They were very nice and personable. I moved to the next step and did an interview with the staff and manager. They went over the position and my skills. However, I didn't have too much debt collection experience, they advised they were trying to separate the two and have a support team/debt team. They seemed impressed but they advised it was up to the Director of the company. I scheduled with the director and did a zoom call. He was around 8-10 minutes late. He seemed like he didn't want to be there. Whenever he asked me a question, he would look down at his phone and play a video out loud. He didn't really ask me about my skills but asked me "What would make you happy?" I'm sorry what kind of question is that. When I asked him what kind of employee is he looking for on his team. He replied saying someone with skills but isn't annoying because we like to go out to eat a lot. I just looked at him like okay great.. He proceeds to say, "don't be nervous." Immediately red flags went up for me. he was very unprofessional. I almost had the urge to end the call and just not continue the interview because he was obviously watching youtube while doing the interview. I got a rejection email the following week saying they will not be moving forward. This process took me 2 months.
