I applied online. I interviewed at Kargo in May 2026
Interview
3 rounds of 30 - 40 min chats with varying stakeholders (directors, product & engineering) 1 onsite tech round.
I found most of the interviews to be good, apart from the engineer who was vaping throughout our call and turning on and off his camera to attempt to hide it, guy was also pretty pushy & argumentative, not someone I'd be happy to work with
The overall process felt pretty oldschool and relaxed, it was nice to have a break from leetcode style interviews for once

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Kargo (New York, NY) in Jun 2025
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me. One thing I noticed was that almost everyone involved seemed very disinterested; I don't know whether that's because it's an employer's market now, people are unhappy at Kargo, it was in my head, or something completely different. After a perfunctory intro call with their technical recruiter, I was moved on to an initial interview with one of their engineering managers, who was nice and fairly low-key. Following that, standard assessment round with a number of their tech staff. The internet in their office was notably bad and we lost a lot of the time allocated for these interviews due to connectivity issues, but I was moved on to a final presentation/systems architecture stage. Initially I was told I'd have ~5 days to prepare, but the same day the recruiter replied to their own email and said it'd need to be 8AM the following morning.
One thing I noticed, aside the lack of communication and engagement (type of thing I associate with massive legacy companies, not newer tech firms who really rely on the Internet for their core business model), was that despite being fairly insistent on in-office work, a lot of leadership seemed to be remote and flies into NYC infrequently.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kargo (Waterford) in Sept 2023
Interview
The interview process was quick and the communication was clear. I did not get an offer but I felt like the process was good. I was given detailed feedback as to why I did not get selected.
