I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at KOLN/KGIN (Lincoln, NE) in Jan 2015
Interview
Standard interview, about 20 minutes long. Sent a follow up email a week later and was offered. I did have to wait about two months after initially applying before hearing back about the interview. I don't think this is standard because they were in the process of replacing several people and were doing quite a few interviews.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at KOLN/KGIN
Interview
I was contacted by phone and then set up a Skype interview. It was a 40 minute interview. Salary was not discussed. They told me they would let me know within a week if I got the job or not. They did not give me a lot of time to look over my offer. Reporters don't have to sign contracts but they do sign a non-compete.
The process took 3 days. I interviewed at KOLN/KGIN (Lincoln, NE) in Sept 2008
Interview
Contacted me via telephone. Conducted all interviews via telephone. News Director asked "what is the future of TV journalism." Comeup with a good answer. Also study the website. This station is hard news driven, which is difficult in a town like Lincoln. Keep that in mind. The people are great. Management is awful. Very unorganized/unprofessional. Over all was a good experiencebut I wouldn't work there again if I could do it all over.
