Interview
I applied online to this opening and about three weeks later received an email asking me to complete a 30-minute online problem-solving, personality and typing test. The day after I completed the test I received a rejection email. Not only is this a huge red flag, but it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. I cannot believe that in 2023 a company is rejecting qualified candidates based on personality assessments. This hurts the company's brand and greatly damages diversity hiring. Stay away.

Interview
Wow, where to start. This company's logo may as well be a giant red flag. The first contact was an email from the TA Director asking me to complete an aptitude test which would take about 30 minutes. Red flag #1: An online and totally impersonal assessment (versus an opportunity to connect and learn more about the company, the role, and team); candidate experience isn't valued. The aptitude test was a 15-minute IQ test (red flag #2), a personality test (red flag #3), and a typing test (um...why?). It is incredibly easy for IQ tests to be biased against those of lower SES and non-white backgrounds. Same goes for the personality testing; both tests are very limited measures of how someone will perform on the job. Most of these tests were also developed by white men from the 1800s or early- to mid-1900s, and actively used for racist agendas and eugenics (note that the demographics on Glassdoor are only white and Asian). The next day I got a templated rejection email from the Director about how they are making the hard decision not to move forward, with an insincere message about wanting to help me find a role (red flag #4). It included links to articles like, "4 Resume Tips from Career Professionals" and "How To Find A Company You'll Love Working For" (red flag #5). Ha! The irony seems to be lost on them. Lack of transparency (which they purport as being one of the company's values) around their recruiting process, red flag #6. Red flag #7: Glassdoor employee reviews. Red flag #8: High turnover. RUN!
