I applied online. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Feb 2025
Interview
There were several rounds (resume, math/logic questions, technical interview (coding), in person super day (problem solving, technical/coding). Overall it took about a month I think, they were pretty quick with their responses and scheduling which was nice!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Coding interviews:
- Write function that from a list of things, finds the three biggest things. Loop through the list and have a first place second place and third place and check to see if its bigger than the other ones
- If a strawberry is 98% water and 2 percent strawberry fiber and the entire strawberry is 1 gram. How many grams of water do you need to drain from the strawberry to make it 50% water and 50% strawberry?
Very easy compared to the other roles at Jane Street. Got asked Probability, coding, brainteasers. Basically a mix of Quant trading and Software Engineering questions. First and Second round were much easier than final onsite round.
going through resume, explain your past experience and projects. why the company jane street and role of trading desk operations engineer intern. then logical reasoning and brain teaser type questions .
The interviewer was extremely kind, approachable, and supportive throughout the entire process, which made the overall experience much more comfortable and less stressful. The questions were largely similar to typical LeetCode-style problems, focusing on core data structures and algorithms. In addition to the coding-focused rounds, one of the initial rounds specifically tested mathematical concepts, which required a strong grasp of fundamentals and logical reasoning.
