I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at International Rescue Committee (Baltimore, MD)
Interview
The Interview was a great conversation that flowed easily discussing my interest in working with refugees, my experience. After making initial contact at an information session, I kept in touch with the volunteer coordinator via email. When my schedule allowed me to commit to the 3 month unpaid internship, I got back in touch and asked about recent availabilities for internships. Although I went in with a different position in mind and geared my cover letter and preparation in this way, I found that there was a different position by my interview that the Volunteer Coordinator had in mind. All in all a positive experience.
