There are many steps. You have to go through some hoops before getting to the actual interview. It does feel like a bit much for a summer job.
1) I read a required essay about reading which was written by the founder. I submitted an online application with short answers to some question prompts and my resume.
2) I recorded short video answers to 3 questions. There was only a short time to prepare for each question. Each video response was recorded in one take.
3) The online live interview was scheduled via an online appointment scheduling system. There's a mandatory informational video to watch before the interview.
The 45-minute interview was conducted via Zoom. The interviewer was cordial and kind, and conducted the interview in an conversational style. It felt like the interviewer was looking for the "right" answer. Basically your answers should match the institute's teaching style. There is also some time to ask questions about the job.
The questions were slightly difficult because they were often vague. "Our teaching/class style is x, how does that relate to you/what do you think about that?"
