The process started with a phone screen with a recruiter, followed by a take home challenge which took about 3 hours to complete. After the take home challenge, I had a call with the hiring manager for the role, and was invited on-site. The on-site interview consisted of four 45 minute interviews.
I started the process at the beginning of January, was invited on-site in early February, and received a decline email a couple of weeks after the on-site.. It is now the end of April, and the same position is still posted. I know from my conversations that they are only hiring one person for this particular role. This makes me wonder if 1) they are not actually planning to hire anyone for this role and are instead seeing what talent exists and building a pipeline or 2) they are not able to make a decision about who to hire for the role, or their requirements are set too high. Both are equally concerning, and I wouldn't want to join a team that can't make a hiring decision and continues to put candidates through this long process.
