      Recruiter Interview

      20 Sept 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Insight Global (Denver, CO) in Aug 2011

      Interview

I was contacted by a corporate recruiter after applying to the job online. We played lots of phone tag until we finally connected. Simple yet vague questions were asked. but great news I was selected to a 1:1 interview. I had read reviews from this site as well as others, and I became a little leery. No big deal, don't believe everything you read so I went in. As I am outside rehearsing, I receive a phone call saying that I am late for the interview. I am not late, the recruiter goofs up the time. Red Flag 1. If the company cannot communicate effectively within its own organization, how does it work outside its own company. Oh well, its in a nice office building, it must be reputable. I walk into the office, start looking around, peeking around corners looking for someone. I try follow advice of someone who said when waiting, never sit down and don't pick up the trade magazines. Well there weren't any, phew. But where is everyone?? RED FLAG 2. I finally notice a little sign saying the receptionist is out, and there is a phone I need to pick up to get someones attention. Weird but I call in. Neither person is in that I am supposed to meet. Ok, well I guess Ill meet whoever is willing to talk. Suddenly I am bombarded with business cards from one after another who comes in to give me their card, tell me they are busy, and someone will be in shortly. I finally meet with someone and they explain that this is not a typical interview. In fact, they dont even ask about my work history or experience. They ramble on about how great the position is. I ask why they decided to work for the company, and they respond, "Because these are the type of people that I hang out with". Oh yes, their company culture is all about hanging out. I am interested in work, and could really care less about hanging out with employees. I understand its the culture they are trying to breed, but it was more like an interview for a fraternity or elite country club. I thought the interview went well, although I left with more doubts that I originally brought.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Insight Global (Denver, CO) in Mar 2026

      Interview

Started with an initial meeting over Microsoft Teams; Recruiter interviewed me twice before offering an in person interview. The in person interview was much more interpersonal, they had me meet the team and introduced me to everyone on the floor. When the actual interview started it seemed they were scanning my personal communication skills without be prudent to my abilities to complete the job. I was invited back for a shadow/lunch session, this was another test environment of my personal communication skills. I felt this environment was supportive but felt off, I appreciated the time to interview but was told multiple times; "We believe you have the technical ability to complete the job." I was told the day after that they were moving forward with other candidates. I completed a total of six interviews for this position with arguably more effort and time spent than I would like to interview. The shadow session and lunch interview took nearly 4 hours of my time (travel, parking, interview, lunch, shadowing time). I wouldn't spend this much time in pursuit of a position I was not going to be offered. Indirectly I never was able to speak with anyone in the office I was interviewing at previous to the interviews themselves. My recruiter operated as a liaison to me and the office without direct connection with the office.

      Interview

I had my first interview, and we ended it with her saying that she would send me dates to visit the office. I never heard from her again. She also asked me if I was in Greek life, but I don't feel like that was a normal interview question.
