I applied online. I interviewed at Inland Revenue in Jan 2026
Interview
Lots of steps, but quick communication after each step. Applied online, then sent the psychometric test, after this was a one-way interview and then after this was called to set up an in person interview. Approx 1 week after in person interview I was asked to provide references and within 48hrs of my references responding I was offered a position.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
One-way interview. How do you deal with a difficult customer. Committing to the salary. Committing to training period.
In person interview. STAR format which I was emailed information on. Chat at the start where I was offered a chance to explain anything that might not be on my CV. Then there were just 3 questions but these went into a lot of detail. One regarding change, one regarding managing expectations. Brief chat making sure that I understood the role etc.

Interview
you do mock inbound calls, lots of questions and 2 in person interviews, ask about previous work history. They require you to do a full police check and background check.
It was fairly easy process. Applied online through website and updated CV and cover letter. In a few days got the invite for online assessment to be done within a time period. Then got a call in a few days to confirm some details. This was followed by a panel interview that was online as well. They usually respond in a few days about outcome and give a great feedback ad well.
