The process began professionally and the team appeared to be intelligent and dedicated to their work. As the interviews progressed over several weeks, it became readily apparent the founders and management team, while likable and well-intentioned, lack real-world experience and seem out of touch with the needs of the customers and market they wish to serve. They proved to be noncommittal and uncertain about making a hiring decision even after providing verbal assurances to me as a candidate they wished to hire. On the bright side, they have ample resources and time to learn, grow and right the ship.
