      Project Manager Interview

      17 Apr 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ISEC (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2023

      Interview

Connie was the lady who interviewed me. It started by her telling me I didn't have the experience for the job, that I had never worked for Construction before. I have for over 10 years, and I wondered how she missed that reading my resume. I let her know that I do, the names of the companies and that they are listed on both my resume and on linked in. The day of my interview she forgot we had the interview, I waited for around 15 minutes for the call until I finally called her and she said oh sorry I forgot. She told me I was being deceptive in my resume because I said I was still working for my current employer when I was not gaining work experience on Maternity leave!!!! What??? I had around a month of maternity leave at that point, I gave birth on Feb and the interview was on March. Then she said she still didn't think I had the experience, and that I definitely did not have the experience for the money I was asking for. I told her I would rather negotiate the salary with the hiring manager, and she said that was a good idea since she knew nothing about construction. I was blown away, so someone who knows nothing about construction is telling me I do not have the experience needed for the job and that I am not worth what I say I am, followed by accusing me of deceitful because I am on maternity leave and still putting in my resume that I work for my employer. I have never felt that berated and embarrassed to be on maternity leave. I would have hoped that given the fact that she is a woman she would understand being a working mom. I asked for the chance to speak to the hiring manager, I felt like I would have a better chance at expressing my worth with someone who actually knows construction. She asked me to send her a resume saying that I was not working at my current employer anymore and that I could have a conversation with them, I did and a day later I got an email saying thank you but not thank you. Being a military wife I have had many jobs and many interview's I have gotten the jobs or I have not and I have never felt insulted until this interview. I really hope you do not miss out on good talent because of your first filter.
