      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ING (Bucharest, Bucuresti) in May 2021

      Interview

I'm going to start with the reason I'm giving this review, followed by the recruitment process afterwards. The recruitment proccess lasted from the 9th of April 2021 to the 11th of May 2021. After going through all the steps: intelligence and aptitude tests, HR interview, technical interviews and leadership interview, I was told via phone that all the feedback from all the assessors is positive and that within one week I'd be presented with an offer. Two weeks later I emailed asking for a draft of the offer at least, and I was told there were some problems with creating the new role and that there's some technical difficulties; so I should wait for one more week. One week and a half later I email again, asking what's wrong, and I'm told that two more candidates entered the recruitment process and that we'd all be given our contracts at the same time; so that I should wait a few more weeks until they're done as well. At this point the other company I was talking with couldn't wait any longer so I declined their offer, looking forward to working with ING and waiting for their offer. A month passes and I start calling and emailing the recruiter every few days asking what's happening but I get no reply. After one more month passes she finally answers her phone and tells me that they will continue with the other two candidates because they were better at the technical part of the interviews. I was shocked, because I was told that I'd be getting an offer, and I had already declined another company I was talking to. I messaged one of the other people I had an interview with from ING on LinkedIn explaining the situation and then I got a call back from the recruiter who is angrily telling me that I didn't understand right and that she never said I'd get an offer. I don't know what was in her head because I am not the type of person to be imagining things like this. It was a terrible experience where I felt like I was lied to and deceived by a company I thought great things about. From the deceiving to the fact that you don't reply to calls and email for a month, I strongly recommend anyone with a backbone to stay away from people with these kind of practices. About the recruitment proccess: - 3 or 4 tests about culture fit, mathematical and logical aptitudes -hr interview -technical interview 1 -technical interview 2 (because I had studied in the Netherlands, they had to adjust what they were testing since they were testing things that get taught at university in Romania) -leadership interview with 3 managers/group leaders

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

1.Why are you applying at this moment? 2. What do you find appealing about ING and banking/finance? 3. What do you find appealing about the ITP? 4. How does this position fit your ambition for the longer term? Why a bank instead of a tech company? • What's your worst quality? • What would you bring in a team? • What's the biggest challenge ING is facing now? • How would your family and friends describe you?

      Interview

Fairly standard content delivered in a fast-paced manner, with abstract problem-solving and data interpretation questions. It was designed and delivered with the intentions of actually selecting the better candidate. I would say they have a better system in this regard.
