      Advertising Designer (Casual) Interview

      7 Jan 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Launceston
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at IGA (Launceston) in Nov 2016

      Interview

      1. Electronic submission of resume, cover letter and samples of work 2. Got an email reply from the HR representative saying they will be in touch after closing date if successful for interview 3. After the closing date, got a call from the HR rep asking me to come in for an interview 4. Went in for the interview with the Advertising Manager and HR rep. They were both professional and friendly - the Advertising Manager had a lot to say about the company. They asked me to introduce myself, what do I know about the company, what I was hoping for, what software I used, experience with website, how would your previous manager describe you, and any questions of them. 5. I was given a brief tour of the office 6. Had to do a practical test where I had to lay out a catalogue in InDesign with some basic information about the products and a blank canvas, using the manager's Windows PC. The manager was looking directly over my shoulder for the entire process. I was stopped after about 10 minutes, and then he explained to me said it was ok, but he then said he would approach it differently and showed me what he would do instead. 7. The HR manager rang me after a few days, saying they were still deciding. 8. About 10 days later I received a rejection letter in the mail.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What if a manager didn’t like your work at the end of the process, how would you feel (give an example)?
