      Jr. Software Developer Interview

      21 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Antonio, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 3 months. I interviewed at IBC Bank (San Antonio, TX) in Nov 2022

      Interview

I've never felt more disrespected or humiliated during an interview process than I did with IBC Bank. The initial communication with the recruiter in late October went well, and I was invited to a 30-minute Zoom interview with the hiring manager. The interview went smoothly, and I was optimistic about the opportunity. My in-person interview, which was scheduled for early-November, was canceled and rescheduled an hour or so before the actual interview time. This was pretty frustrating because I had to take off work for this, but I understand life happens. It was rescheduled about a week later, and went pretty well. During the interview, the hiring manager mentioned they were tweaking the role and wanted to make sure I would be comfortable with the changes. They asked about my experience and how I would fit in with the team, pretty basic stuff. Again, it went pretty well. At the beginning of Thanksgiving week, my recruiter informed me that the company was interested in hiring me, but the start date might be delayed due to rewriting the job description and getting it approved by higher-ups. The recruiting company reached out to propose a contract-to-hire option so that they could get an earlier start date for me. Over the next few weeks, the hiring manager stopped responding to the recruiters' emails, phone calls, and scheduled meetings. I didn't hear anything back from them until mid-December, when my recruiter informed me that the hiring manager was still interested in hiring me, but the process of rewriting the job description wouldn't even begin until early/mid-January. Its now late February and that was the last bit of correspondence I have had from them. I am used to getting ghosted by recruiters or companies during the interview process but being strung along for months while saying they would like to give me an offer makes this by far the worst interviewing experience I've ever had.
