      Teacher Interview

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at I CAN SCHOOLS (Cleveland, OH) in Jul 2015

      Interview

Standard questions regarding discipline and differentiation. Nice interviewer in professional setting. School was in session at the time, so I could hear students being disciplined. Building is well appointed and easy to find. Plan on working with an exclusively urban clientele. I was told I would be observed weekly.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to teach Urban students.

I applied online. I interviewed at I CAN SCHOOLS (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process consists of a phone interview, a Skype/in-person interview, and the submission of a sample lesson that you teach to the class. The sample lesson nearly always gets returned to be revised... there's one style ICS prefers, and it's not likely you'll meet it the first time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Do you think that students of lower socioeconomic status (specifically, urban-dwelling students) should be held to different standards than students in wealthier areas?

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at I CAN SCHOOLS

      Interview

It was a 3 step process. First, you have a phone interview. This took about 20 minutes and was very basic questions. Then, you move to the in-person/skype interview. I skyped. This one was longer, maybe 45, and there were three different people interviewing me. The final part is a sample lesson. They provide a lesson template and a standard and you then submit the lesson and then teach it to a class. It was fairly straight forward.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The questions were typical ones in the field. How would you handle this kind of situations, how have you dealt with difficult parents, etc. I didn't have any kind of curveballs or surprise questions thrown at me.
