Interview was scheduled quickly. My interview consisted of two interviewers. Interview lasted about 20 min. Was a very basic interview. I was notified that week that I had received an offer.
2 people quick interview the asked about 10 questions and then schedule a back ground and drug test. The whole thing took about 30 minutes and was not bad at all in my opinion
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Horizons Youth Services
Interview
*sigh* I have to say that I have never experienced a "process" like this before.
I had an initial interview with HR that went well. I explained that I had an out of state license that could be transferred to another state. I even supplied HR with the link to that state's licensure department.
A second interview was set up..I waited and waited. 2 hours late. I overlooked the issue because the interview went well and it was suggested I visit. No travel compensation was available, but I took a chance because everything looked promising. I emailed several days in advance to see if there was anything extra I needed to bring...never heard back. Still haven't.
However, it was a good thing that I brought my own paperwork. I needed it.
I arrived only to find out that no paperwork had been delivered to the people conducting the third interview, (including my license, which I had scanned and emailed). I spent time filling out a 7 page application. The person driving me on campus even had to stop to pick up my interview questions, which I hand carried to the person conducting my interview. Again..everything went well. The place was wonderful.
Then...the shoe dropped. The third person realized that the state would not recognized my credentials because Horizons Youth Services is non-public. I could not be hired.
This should have never happened. I spent 20 hours in the car and over $120 in gas and other expenses. Why doesn't HR know state licensure rules? If they don't, why didn't they bother to look it up after I sent the link weeks in advance? There is no way I could have known that the word "District" meant only public schools.
I have hesitated putting this review because Horizons has so much going for it. I would have enjoyed working for this company. And, better yet, I would have been good at it. But candidates for employment need to be aware that the hiring process is not smooth. They also should keep copies of all their paperwork...just in case. I also would not advise spending money on the possibility of employment.
