I applied at CoStar Group and a recruiter reached out to me a couple weeks after the application with asking details and if I was interested in a different suitable position.
First round was a 30 minute screen video interview scheduled with VP and a couple Tech Leads from the team. As expected, I was asked about my previous and current experience and my role under the project. The interview was collaborative. I got a positive remark from the recruiter and said that a second round will be scheduled pretty soon.
Second round was scheduled for 2 hr with different group of team members. As per what I heard and read in Glassdoor reviews, second round was supposedly a deep dive technical interview. But, I felt disappointed. None of the Tech Leads, Sr. Developers or Tech Manager asked any technical questions. They were same question as I was asked in the First round. I even felt that the 2nd group of interviewers were least interested in interviewing. They were chatting on the side, and laughing. I could tell this because they were sitting behind each other and I could see their monitors. One of the interviewers also said, quote on quote "Common guys its a long weekend, Lets get this done quickly." This was very disrespectful.
I felt I gave them all they asked, but got a rejection email saying I was not fit for the Sr. Position but more of a Jr. Dev.
I understand, I cannot revert any decisions made, neither ask why I was rejected but when you spend so much time studying for the interview with high hopes, positive outcome and on the interview day you are not asked even a single technical question and then get a rejection, that is heart breaking.
But I would think twice before interviewing with the team after this experience.
