Had to be scheduled for an interview. There was a slight delay with our start time, but the whole interview went for 35-45 minutes. Questions about yourself + questions about your availability
If I remember correctly, there were 2 interviews. One initial interview and the second one to meet other members of the team and more structured questions. Overall, they were very nice and punctual. All questions were easy to understand and they also answered my questions. Overall, great experience.
This was a structured interview in front of a panel (in my case, two people). The questions were straightforward and provided me ample opportunity to showcase either my strengths or weaknesses as a candidate. The tone of the interview was professional, but warm and friendly. A 45m time limit was both declared and respected. Both interviewers seemed comfortable, competent, and highly experienced in interviewing and giving feedback to candidates.
My application was deferred for some time (6mo+) before I heard back. This is not a negative or a critique; I was expecting that I might not get a call right away, and it was quite heartening when the follow-up finally came. If HG tells you they're going to reconsider your application at a later date, in my admittedly subjective experience, they absolutely mean it. To me, that's a huge W in the honesty and transparency column.
I'm sharing this in part to assure others who check this site prior to their interview, as I did ... don't let the negative experiences reported weigh on you overmuch. I'm not particularly young — I'm about the same age as someone who reported a negative experience — and not only did the interview go great, but I heard back same day. While this might not always be the case, everything about my experience (apart from the wait, which isn't something I hold against the org) was exceedingly positive.
