I was contacted for the VP of Design role, which is a new position. I started by talked to a recruiter, who seemed competent enough. Then I was scheduled to talk to the CEO, who cancelled at the last minute. Instead I spoke to one of their Creative Directors, who seemed entirely unprepared and unsure what questions to ask me. She spent quite a bit of time telling me about the how the entire Marketing team was fired recently, and the company is in an upheaval. We had a nice chat and she told me they would be reaching out next week to follow up. After that I sent two polite follow-up emails, thanking them for their time and consideration. I haven't heard a word from ANYONE since - not even a simple thank you for my time, or a note saying that they're not interested. I consider "ghosting" a senior executive to be incredibly bad manners. LA is a small town - if you treat one candidate this poorly, you can be certain that word will spread quickly.
