Was contacted for a phone interview, but then when I got on the call was told that this would just be a very quick introductory call, where the internal recruiter discussed the company/role and I walked through my background. It literally lasted no more than 7 minutes and no actual questions were asked of me, which was very odd, though I was allowed to ask questions. The HR woman couldn't have seemed less enthusiastic about anything she said, which was a huge turnoff. She just sounded really annoyed to be on the call, and what really stood out as a red flag was when I asked what the company culture was like and she said, "Well, that's difficult to answer." If that's a tough question to answer, then the culture must not be that great. She didn't end up providing me any answer, but gave a bizarre explanation as to why she couldn't answer it (something along the lines of "Culture is different to everyone so there's no way to answer this question.") The call took place at 5pm, so maybe the interviewer was really rushing to get through the end of the day, but her unenthused tone, lack of interest, and lack of preparation made me completely uninterested in this company.
