The HR team was super unprofessional and silly. I applied for the Global Influencer Marketing position and was contacted by HR for an interview that, according to them, would focus on the Australian market. I spent a lot of time preparing for it because I have zero background related to Australia.
From what I gathered, the regional assignment seemed pretty random and mostly depended on which regional manager happened to see your CV first. When I asked why I was matched with the AU market, the explanation was both surprising and honestly hilarious. The HR told me she thought it made sense because I had studied in Macau — yeah in Chinese, both Australia and Macau start with the character “澳” (AO) I could literally laugh about that forever.
To make matters worse, near the end of the interview, I found out the interviewer wasn’t even from the influencer marketing team. She was actually in charge of TikTok Shop operations. While I understand that both influencer content and TikTok Shop aim for conversions, the responsibilities and preparation involved are totally different — and I have no experience with TikTok Shop at all. The mismatch made the entire conversation confusing and, frankly, a waste of time for both sides.
Overall, the process felt disorganized and unprofessional. Better internal communication and clearer role alignment would go a long way in improving the candidate experience.
