The interview process started reasonably well with the recruiter reach out and for once, it was something that I was qualified for. Then I had a call with the CTO. Typical tech vet who is very appreciative of his past successes and got out of retirement because why not?
The interview was in 4 parts and poor recruiter she had to schedule with everybody's separate schedule over 3 continents and ultimately it had to be scheduled over 3 different days. The technical interview was pretty straightforward in system design architecture. The interviewer had a crying puppy right next to him so it was not ideal. The second part was with someone in Greece, the questions were all pretty vague and I could not really understand the purposes of most of them. He clearly had not prepared for the interview. The third part was with someone in Argentina. I am not sure if it was an actual interview as the guy walking on a treadmill the whole time, attended to his kids multiple times and discussed the Argentinian economic crisis of 1987 a lot more than he discussed the role I was interviewing for. The fourth interview was the most classical and happened after a few rescheduling. The interviewer was apathetic and supercilious and was asking mostly classical interview questions that could apply as much to an engineering manager than to a janitor. That one was particularly unpleasant.
