The way they do things at HFL is one of the best ways that I have ever found to really see if the relationship between two people will be mutually beneficial or not. Sitting down with someone one can only gather so much information, you really need to see them in the trenches to see what their true character is. The best part about the hiring process is the shadow style of the interview. It was amazing to be a part of because how many times do you actually get to see what a day would look like, and they get to see the skills and attributes that can make you stand out.

Interview
I was contacted by their HR Director 1 day after I applied for a recruiting role online. I was very impressed by her confidence and personality over the phone. In our very brief conversation, she reviewed my resume which then resulted in an opportunity to come in and meet with the President of the company. The first round was quick. I was very comfortable with everyone I encountered in management. The president explained briefly what his company does and that he contracts with Direct TV. I was invited back for the second round at the end of the day and attended a full day job shadow 2 days later. I was paired with a top account manager and then went to Walmart for the day. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and had obviously mastered his skill in sales. He definitely possessed great people skills and was comfortable confronting anyone. He was able to generate two new accounts for the client. At the end of the day, I sat down again with the hiring manager. I was offered on the spot and started 2 weeks later.

HFL"s interview process is extremely formal. It is a 3 stage interview. The first one last about 10 minutes. This part of the interview process is extremely vague. Nothing about the job is really said at all you are interviewing for. This I found extremely frustrating. They then set up a second round interview where they pair you with f
The "top account manager" go to lunch they breakdown the whole job for you. Then you end up at Wal-Mart for a few hours shadowing this person. What they are doing is selling directtv. Something that from the job posting and the first round interview that is not at all expected. So the job expectation hits you all at once. Once that is done you go back to the office and are asked about your experience and asked if able to perform. If yes, you are offered the job on the spot.
