The interview process was positive. I enjoyed speaking with the two leaders I would be working most closely with. I was excited about the scope of the work and the potential growth of the department. I was the last interview of the day and received the offer that afternoon. Then the headache began.
After I accepted the offer and the start date, HCA requires hours of online forms to complete, personality tests and confidentiality disclosures, much more extensive than a typical background screen. And I invested time for these and the obligatory drug test. A week later the start date was moved back a week, then later that week they called to say they didn't get approval for the offer they made to me and would I take 10% less. Disappointed, I agreed. Then the start date was delayed again, and then I was told the position was cancelled altogether and was going to be re-posted internally by a different name. HCA doesn't seem to know what they're hiring for or the level of candidate they can afford. Departments and HR do not appear to be on the same page about hiring. HCA wastes your time and keeps you on the hook while they continue to decide what they are looking for and bet whether they can find it cheaper if they keep looking, even after they've made an offer, not in good-faith.
