      Analyst Interview

      9 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gulfstream in Aug 2015

      Interview

I applied online and 2 weeks later, I received an email from HR saying I was under consideration for the position. A few days after that, a HR staff called me to schedule a phone interview. The HR lady said she would send an email to confirm my interview the following week. I never received any email to confirm, and she did not leave a phone number to contact her. It was quite confusing and I was not sure I even had an interview scheduled. However, the hiring manager did call me as scheduled. He asked 9 questions, which he said were mandatory by Gulfstream and he said that everyone being interviewed gets asked those same questions. They were all fairly easy, they all had to do with your previous work experience. One question I had to pass because I just didn't have any previous experience to do with that. After about 1 hour, my interview was concluded. The hiring manger was very cagey when I asked about salary expectations though. He refused to answer and give me a number. He kept asking me what I was willing to take, and I said because I wasn't aware of the living costs of Savannah that I really didn't know. I could hardly expect Gulfstream to give me the same salary I got while living in very expensive cities, such as London and Singapore. I asked for a range and was told that he would call me back later and give it to me because he didn't know. << Why would a hiring manager not know the salary range of a position he is interviewing for?? A few hours later, hiring manager called me back and instead of telling me a numerical range, he used the US federal government GS pay scale and told me the range. Again, I fail to understand the cageyness of this and why they cannot just give me a number. This isn't a federal job so why are they using federal govt pay scale to convey to me the salary? Hiring manager kept saying he was very impressed with my qualifications but that I was a bit too overqualified for the position that I applied for (entry level). Lastly, the hiring manager said he would call me to personally tell me if I got the job or didn't because according to him, he thought the generic email response was cold and impersonal. Well, sad to report, he never called me and all I got was a generic email rejection. From the time of my interview to my rejection email, it was 8 business days. My first time going through the interview process with Gulfstream and I was very, very unimpressed. Failure to deliver very basic things, such as an email confirmation and lack of transparency regarding salary notification. I am hesitant to apply again given such a sour experience. Also, if you are applying and want to get an interview, only apply for jobs that you can answer 'yes' to all their mandatory questions. If you answer one No out of 5 yeses, you will still receive an automatic rejection email. Don't even waste your time applying unless you can answer yes to all their questions.

      Interview

I had an interview with multiple heads of the department for my first interview. It went okay and I was asked general questions. I didn't receive any type of follow-up information, and I emailed the company recruiter to see if they had moved to other candidates. Even the recruiter didn't get back to me or provide any following feedback. I found it off-putting that I take time to interview and I don't get a simple "we have proceeded with other candidates. "
