      Assistant Buyer Interview

      28 Sept 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Berlin
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Grover (Berlin) in Aug 2021

      Interview

At first I interviewed for an internship but since I could only do part-time because of my studies, the pay was way too low. It was 850 Euros for 20h a week. That's barely over minimum wage and not a "competitive salary" as stated in the ad. I declined. The friendly employee said that they will look for a normal position but part time because the pay would be better. I thanked them. To my surprise only a week later I got an e-mail telling me I was invited to an assisten buyer interview. I was thrilled an prepared. What followed were 5 interviews with everyone from "normal" workers to the head of the department. Everything went smoothly. No hiccups. Everyone was very professional, friendly and easy to talk to. I mentioned multiple times and to multiple people that I was only doing part time but would later (after finishing my studies in 6 months) join for full time position (an idea brought up by the head of the department). Everybody understood that and was looking forward to working with me. Then, after 6 weeks of interviews, I had a last meeting with HR (this time a different employee; it seemed in a more senior role) and they offered me an Internship. The reason being that they don't do normal positions in part-time, only internships. I said that I couldn't take that big of a pay cut and that this was the reason I was invited for a normal position in the first place. The answer: oh, that was an error. She didn't know that/wasn't informed. I pointed out that in all the e-mails it did say "assistend buyer" and not a word about an internship. She didn't see. I pointed out that I talked about it to multiple people on multiple occasions. She didn't know. I thanked her for her time. She said that if they found out where the error lied, they would contact me. Now it is almost three weeks later and still no contact. Avoid if possible. They wasted 6 weeks of my time because of something that could have been solved by communicating with each other.

      Assistant Buyer Interview

      13 Apr 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Grover in Apr 2022

      Interview

The interview process consisted of 4 interviews, each approx. 30 minutes long. All interviews felt more like 'chats' than interviews, and the entire atmosphere was great. The four interviews took place within two weeks, which was really refreshing to see a company move this fast throughout the recruitment process. 1. CV screening with the HR representative. Essentially it was a walk-through of my CV and answering general questions about the motivation for the position. 2. Interview with Junior Buyer and Buyer. More in-depth questions about the position, the daily tasks, and the company. 3. Interview with Head of Procurement. Felt more like a check-in rather than an interview. It included many general questions about the company and motivation to work there. I was also asked about career goals in 3-5 years and how the company could support this. 4. Interview with an employee from an entirely different team, mainly focused on culture and checking whether the organizational culture would be a good fit and in line with my expectations.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself. How does your current skillset translate into this position? What do you expect a typical day will look like? Which management style do you prefer? Which tasks do you enjoy doing and which are you less passionate about? What is the ideal team for you? Why do you want to work here? What do you know about the company? Can you tell me about a time that was stressful for you and you had to overcome it? How do you give feedback to others? What is important for you in a company?
