I started the process after being contacted by Green Peak's retained executive recruiter. We talked, and I was intrigued, so he connected me with the Green Peak team. Green Peak's process included an introduction call with one of the consultants, then a phone interview and some fairly straightforward online tests. After that, I had a few other calls with other members of the team. The final stage was my assessment: I flew to NYC to meet one of my now-colleagues, and we spent 4.5 hours together, walking through my background and career. It's the same assessment methodology that Green Peak uses to both assess and develop talent for their corporate, Private Equity, and Hedge Fund clients.
I really enjoyed going through the assessment process. Yes, it's tiring, for sure! - and, it was an interesting opportunity to reflect on my career thus far. When's the last time you sat down and, with the help of a trained assessor and executive coach, spent 4.5 hours thinking through everything you've ever done across your career?! Right... never. So, I learned a lot about myself just going through the assessment itself. It's also fascinating to see what an Executive Assessment actually IS - and the best way to understand that is to go through it yourself.
The interview process is extensive, because we think nothing is more important than selecting talent to add to our team. Our culture is incredibly tight-knit and close, and we're very careful to select people who will thrive and succeed in this environment. We also serve a high caliber of (often intense and very senior) clients, so it's important to find people who, again, will like and do well in that context. Through the interview process, I got to see the personalities of the team members who now make up my honorary family - and I got to really see if our culture was right for me. We engage with each other courageously, we look for what's possible, we build trusting relationships, we create beyond ourselves, and we all strive to lead a fulfilling life - whatever that means for each of us. Those were values that resonated deeply with me, and here I am. I've never looked back.
(Just for context, I have an MBA and I came out of a top-tier management consulting firm before joining Green Peak.)
