I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Grainger (Saskatoon, SK) in Jun 2016
Interview
Applied online using company website. Contacted for interview just after posting closing date.
Had 1:1 interview with manager. Interview lasted about 45 mins. After interview, communication with manager was hot and cold. Manager indicated taking holidays right away so not to expect to hear anything within the next could of weeks. Not sure why they would entertain interviewing for a position and then not worry about it for at least 2 weeks afterward leaving potential candidates hanging.
At any rate, the interview was fairly standard with the manager asking "canned" questions from HR and then telling me about the company and the position. I was asked a few questions here and there but mostly it was the manager talking.
I waited a week after the manager indicated they would be making a decision on the successful candidate. No response. 2 weeks. No response. 3 weeks. No response. This would be 5 weeks since the original interview date.
Get a response from manager that they filled the position internally at around the 5 week marker. Communication....yeah not so great.

Interview
Initial interview was easy, just asked about what you know about the company and STAR based. Although was told I would be interviewing in the next round and they really put that into my head only to get a one sentence email at 1am saying they went a different direction. Extremely misleading.
They asked STAR questions and very template questions just to fill in the pages per the manager. Although it could change since I went through this 6 years ago. They are stock driven, so learn a little about their market price and how they play in the industry.

Question 1
Tell me a time when you have to make a very difficult decision.
They do interviews in the typical STAR format. Very tiring as they ask you a ton of questions. If you can handle that kind of thing you'll be fine but the average interview is like 40 minutes of straight questions.
