Initial call with HR. I applied for the Data Scientist role but HR mentioned that the role that I applied for doesn't exist anymore so they want to have an interview for Lead Data Analyst instead. During the call the salary range was declared as 55k-80k depending on experience, I asked to make sure that I heard the numbers right as I was noting the info for myself and he confirmed that the range was as above. Towards the end of the call, he suddenly mentioned oh btw the salary range that I mentioned was wrong and its 55k-70k, which was another red flag in my opinion. HR also confirmed in their email that it will be an screening interview with no technical questions, Whereas he asked a SQL question suddenly in the middle of the interview which I found very unprofessional. Immediately after the initial call I got an invitation for a technical interview (live coding with SQL or Python). I rejected the interview considering the unpleasant experience that I had in initial call.
