I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at GitHub
Interview
Thorough virtual interview process with multiple employees, starting with recruitment department then immediate manager. Interviews continue with teammates, all happening online through zoom. They review your GitHub portfolio and any other portfolios you can provide.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GitHub in Jul 2022
Interview
Exactly in line with others’ feedback.
People I spoke to were sympathetic, however the overall process is long and disorganised with a general disinterest. Interviewers are unprepared, ticking off lists asking questions that were already answered, not engaging, and making several mistakes in communication. The hiring manager being the exception.
Diversity claims are a well presented facade, so be prepared to meet only your average typical Americans. Best to answer in ways they are familiar with and expect.
I usually don’t write reviews on Glassdoor and most of my interviews in person are not bad if not a good experience. However, this was different. First, started off phone interview with the recruiter, then another phone interview with hiring manager and video conference with another team member. Then, in person interview for about 6 hours meeting with some folks with the sales and account management team. The whole time the interviewers mentioned that lunch would be provided, but never was. Instead, I was left hungry and starving throughout the process. They gave me a free T-shirt but I would’ve traded it for some food.
