      Human Resources Interview

      23 Mar 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GetSetUp (New York, NY) in Jan 2023

      Interview

Odd interview process. First, an interview with the CHRO (Chief HR Officer). If that goes well, she gives you TWO homework assignments. Then, you'll have a second interview with the exact same CHRO to review your completed homework. The CHRO will sit silently as you deliver your presentation, making lots of strange facial expressions but not providing any feedback. She will decide silently in her mind whether she likes your work or not. If she doesn't like it, she will send you a canned rejection email--no phone call, no explanation or feedback, and no appreciation for your wasted time. GetSetUp could benefit from providing a much more considerate and professional candidate experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your interview experience with us. We appreciate your honesty and your perspective. Our interview process did include a task component for candidates that moved beyond first round interviews. We believe that tasks can provide an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a practical setting, and we recognize that our process may not have been the best fit for everyone. It is important to us to be professional and respectful of the candidate during the job interview process, while also being thoughtful and engaged in the conversation. Nonverbal cues such as facial expressions can communicate interest, engagement, and even critical thinking. It is possible that some facial expressions may be misinterpreted or perceived differently than intended, and we appreciate your feedback that emphasizes it is important to be aware of this and to make efforts to communicate clearly and effectively. We will also continue to review our feedback process to ensure that candidates receive clear and adequate feedback on the outcome of their interview in a format that works best for them.
