I was contacted by an internal company recruiter two months after I applied to this role, so I went into this process knowing that there was either something wrong with what the company was offering or something wrong with the candidate pool. The recruiter scheduled me for a 30 minute phone screen with a representative of the HR department.
The person I interviewed with was nice and asked basic questions about my resume and experience. She seemed a bit inexperienced for someone in a senior generalist role or possibly had not conducted many interviews. When I began my line of questioning, she was stumped by a couple of inquiries related to their current projects and how they streamlined processes. I also asked about the potential for growth within the company and she made it clear that the director of HR had been in the role for a while and that moves within the department would be lateral only. This falls in line with what other current and past employees have expressed in their Glassdoor reviews regarding promotions and advancements. The pay was also well below market for this type of position and experience level they are expecting (for this role 3 - 5 years). Not many candidates will be content with continuous lateral moves especially with such a low starting salary.
In the end, the overall vibe I got was not positive and I withdrew my resume from consideration.
