I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Garmin (Olathe, KS) in Apr 2019
Interview
Pretty straight forward since it was an employee referral.
Phone:
1. Initial call with a recruiter
2. Technical phone screen.
On-site:
1. Initial chat with HR.
2. A couple of rounds of technical interviews that are not too intense.
3. Lunch with an employee, and a campus tour.
4. A couple more rounds of technical interviews, again not too intense.
I was applying to one of their Senior Software Engineer openings in the Boulder location. I had gone through a round of interviews. The questions were not bad, and the interviewers were pleasant. My main concern is that the HR/Recruitment is only opening this position for candidate lead farming! I had asked multiple times for an understanding on the my current status to be given radio silence.
1 month later, the job opening is reposted on linkedIn. With over hundreds of qualified candidates, you're telling me you can't find one qualified candidate. Don't waste multiple hours!!
I applied online. I interviewed at Garmin in Jul 2024
Interview
I had an hour-long interview with a recruiter who came across as unprofessional and rude. The recruiter asked me to rate my skills on various topics, which took about 20-30 minutes. When she inquired about my expected salary, I asked for the salary range, which seemed to annoy her. Her demeanor changed, and she immediately lost interest.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Garmin (Kansas City, MO) in Jul 2022
Interview
I initially interviewed with the Technical Recruiter, but I was declined before being able to interview with the actual hiring manager or interview with the technical team members. I thought the interview with the recruiter went really well so I was actually shocked when I wasn't able to proceed with the interview process. My guess is that it had to do with my race, based on some of the questions I was asked.
