I applied online. I interviewed at Garmin (Cochrane, AB) in Oct 2017
Interview
I had a phone screen with an HR person. Then they arranged a skype interview with me because I was living out of province. There were three people present in the interview, two engineers and an HR person. They were all friendly and encouraging. The interview was half technical questions and half HR style questions, with the engineers taking turns with the HR person.
The techical questions mainly revolved around analysis of analog circuits. The only components used in the circuit diagrams were BJT transistors, FETs and op-amps.
The only complaint I have about the process is that a month later, they still haven't gotten back to me with an offer or a rejection. I really dislike when companies do this to candidates who complete the entire interview process. My suspicion is that they offered the job to somebody else and kept me as a fallback candidate, hence why they always gave me non-answers when I emailed HR.

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Garmin (Calgary, AB) in Sept 2016
Interview
I was hired after I interviewed with the manager of the team. Mostly tried to see how I would fit into the team. A few technical questions based on simple electronics. Nothing too out of the blue. The interview including HR as well and they asked very standard questions such as strengths and weaknesses.
