Extremely unprofessional interview experience ❌
I successfully cleared two rounds of interviews, after which discussions moved to compensation. During the salary negotiations, it became apparent that the company’s budget was significantly below both my expectations and prevailing industry standards for a candidate with my experience. As a result, we were unable to reach a mutual agreement.
Had the organization been transparent about its compensation range at the outset, it would have helped set realistic expectations and avoided unnecessary discussions. Instead, the process continued despite a clear gap between the company’s budget and market expectations.
Nearly a month later, I was contacted again and informed that an additional interview round was required. Even at that stage, the role and responsibilities did not appear to be clearly defined. The final interview lacked a structured evaluation approach and seemed disconnected from the requirements discussed earlier in the process. I subsequently received negative feedback despite having already cleared the previous rounds.
Overall, the process felt disorganized, with changing expectations, unclear role definition, and multiple shifts in direction. It resulted in a considerable investment of time without a clear outcome. I would encourage the organization to define the role requirements, evaluation criteria, and compensation range upfront before engaging candidates in a lengthy interview process.
Unfortunately, this experience reflected a lack of professionalism, transparency, and respect for the candidate’s time.
