Standard local govern ment interview with questions around competancies identified on role description, such as management and change, team leadership and customer service. Look at the competancies on the job description and plan answers that match those skills
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Galway County Council (Galway) in Jul 2025
Interview
I read the previous interview submissions by others after the interview. I can totally concur. I have never interviewed before in this way, came out feeling what the hell was that about. A panel of 3 retired managers, the chair talked over me and interrupted twice mid sentence to hand over to another person on the panel. Even at the 'have you any questions for us' the chair cut the panel person off during their response. It felt like the position was already ear marked for someone else and they were just going through the motions. Terrible experience.
competency based interview based on my application form and knowledge of Local authority, shortlisting interview to return for second round interview. lots of questions on how my competency and work style
