The process consists of 15-20 minutes chat about past truck driving experience. They will need to know the model and type of trucks you drove most. A pretty much get to know chit-chat. Nothing major.
Followed by half-hour driving test. I got a straight box truck to drive..not the compacting type garbage truck you have seen on the street. Make sure you don't go over the curb or edge of road during your turns. You will also need to back up to a side road on the opposite side. (I never had to do this in my last paving career). He will be your spotter. Make sure to turn your 4-ways on and hunk before you put in reverse gear. Backup as closer to edge of roadway..and don't go on shoulder..do this in one go..that means no chances to go forward to re-adjust. Backup was done in a quite residential street.
After getting back to yard and parked, my interview and test is done. He said he will call me. My experience with this person 100% professional. From greetings to goodbye I was given the maximum respect which I had never ever got from any of my past interviews with other companies. What a classy first-experience..unbelievable from a garbage company.
By the way there was no circle checks to perform during the first driving test.
No profile checking questions, and absolutely nothing else at this first meeting.
