Interview process was clunky and unprofessional. I applied online and heard back from the Fueled team for a phone interview. The interviewer warned that their office was loud since they are located in a coworking space, but it was very distracting to hear so much commotion on the other side. During the call, the interviewer said she was going to ask some SEO questions on the spot to understand my background. The questions were beyond basic like "What is a title tag?" with A/B/C multiple choice answers. (She admitted that she did not know SEO and that one of the answers she had was probably wrong since many interviewees had been "missing" a question.) My main issue with this interview process was that they asked for me to do an audit of their website, to which I happily supplied. I did not end up hearing back from Fueled. SEO people, companies should not be asking for a FREE audit of their website and not even respond to you. I do not respect companies that give interview assignments that are not hypothetical in nature. I understand the company wants to see how you would approach a certain task or see your tactical skills, but companies asking for free work/recommendations they can implement is ridiculous. Also, if you're going to ask a candidate to complete an open-ended assignment, at least have the professionalism and courtesy to respond to the interviewee. It takes 30 seconds to send a stock response. But to each their own. This place was clearly not the right fit for me, and I'm glad I did not hear back from them.
