I was contacted by an outside recruiter about an open product manager position at Freedom Pay. The process was unorganized from the beginning. My first interview went well; they asked a lot of generic/surface-level questions. I lost interest in the role when the recruiter's instructions for the second interview case study presentation conflicted with what happened during the interview. At the time of the interview, the hiring manager said I would not be presenting, but instead it was a four-person panel interview. Mistakes happen, so I continued with the interview. Everyone seems nice, but overall I didn't think it would be a good fit for me. Also, the fact that the hiring manager was CC'd on the email regarding the case study and didn't bother to communicate the misunderstanding doesn't sit well with me, especially since I spent a significant amount of time preparing the material.
All in all, the company needs to work on getting candidates excited about their positions and I hope they find their perfect candidate.
