First spoke on phone with recruiter who provided a good overview of the strategic goals of the company. Was a very pleasant conversation. Was scheduled for a second interview with hiring manager two days later, in-person. In-person interview was not what I was anticipating in that it was overly generic, and had no chance to distinguish myself and relate my 20 years of experience to the role at hand. Got no concrete sense from interviewer of the remit of his team. Was actually a bit dull (tbh) albeit pleasant, and made me less interested or just kind of puzzled about the company. The job spec and discussion with recruiter were much more inspiring.
