Applied online and received an email for a panel interview. Met with 6 people– they were 20 minutes late because they decided to take a break. This seemed a little weird considering they chose the time / date of the interview. My time is also important! They asked basic behavioral questions. I had just gotten off a transatlantic flight so I was probably not at my best but no one seemed to notice. Most of the questions that I asked they seemed stumped by– these were questions like "What is a major project that I would be contributing to?" "What is one thing you'd like to change about this department or the university? How can I help with that?" Then they wanted to talk about pay, I said I was sure they had an estimate in mind, they then realized they had no pay information. Later heard through the grapevine that 30k was too much to ask and that I was "overqualified."
