Applied online and quickly received a phone interview with President of the company. She was more focused on technology of a subsidiary they were growing and desire to spin-off.
Seemed to go well overall and was invited down to Naples, FL the following week for an in person interview with various members of the management team.
Overall, impressions were an older and entrenched management team that was simply milking the maintenance revenues from deployments using cash to fund development of subsidiary's new already out of date / late to the game software products. The subsidiary company that they are focusing in on (FYISoft) is late to the game for analytics and FP&A software by a good 10 years. Additionally, not really wanting to change much and still seemed to have opinions that were great to start the company 20+ yrs ago, but have not adapted or evolved as industry and business has. Upper management (CEO and President that are married) really seemed like emperors with no clothes as completely ignorant to the modern software world. For example, they use Flexi as their base GL system that lacks normal features and functionality that a software company would require (maintenance revenues scheduling, integrating with CRM system, ASC 606 compliance features, etc.) requiring quite a bit to be done on excel spreadsheets. Did not seem to really understand accounting / finance function and appear to be wanting more of a controller than VP of Finance. People were nice and interviews were more conversations than anything.
The base Flexi software package needs significant updating in which licenses and maintenance contracts are only being renewed due to traditional institutions not making changes.
Overall, really would stay away from this company without new management in place, a proper BoD, external funding committed to updating its traditional products for current times and making the new products part of a Flexi suite instead of standalone.
