first you must apply through linkedin/indeed.
next, you will be sent an obvious "free consulting" ploy with with VERY specific operations questions, obviously, again, to get leads or ideas for FREE to problems they are having.
of course you will get the typical boilerplate response. "...we have decieded to move forward with other candidates that..."
really? what about the previous email i received, praising my answers? again, this is a "free consulting" ploy. that steal your ideas for FREE.
this is HIGHLY unethical and speaks kudos about the culture at this company. i would highly recommend that anyone avoid this company at all costs. and oh, they utilize "forced fun" vacations.
its obvious that all the company review are submitted by their in house HR to up the score. smh.
I am so sorry about your experience! That is never our intent and it’s very appreciated that you took time out of your day to share feedback.
I’ve reviewed our application process and I believe you may be referring to our email screening step as the questionnaire. This includes brief email screening questions, such as “Can you share an example of when you needed to intervene with someone on your team?” We want to understand a candidate’s relevant experience so that we update candidates as soon as possible. With over 2,000 amazing applicants for this role (and very few who received the questionnaire), it’s so important that we’re thoughtful with candidates’ time.
Later on in the application process, we do have a project phase that is fully compensated so both candidates and our team can experience what it is like to work together. This project phase doesn’t seem to be what is referred to in your message but I’d hate to miss anyone! I have double checked to make sure our team didn’t make a mistake anywhere. Our records show that all projects have been compensated but please contact us at careers@firstday.com if we’ve made an error so we can make things right.
Thank you so much!
Quite a lengthy process for such a small organization. Very interesting approaching to the candidate screening process. Genuinely surprised by the approach and the organization was slow to communicate on the back end of the process.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at First Day (CA) (New York, NY) in Feb 2023
Interview
I had my initial call with the CFO, then met with the CEO/Founder, did a paid assessment (qualitative & quantitative), walked the CEO through the assessment and did a live Q&A with her. I REALLY appreciated that they compensated me for my assessment - so many companies take advantage of the work that you do, and this was a phenomenal example of the company's values.

Question 1
"If you were hired & given zero resources, what would you actually do?" Given how small the team is, they really value having all levels of management still be hands on & have the ability to work as an Individual Contributor.
